Experience Summary
In college, I worked for America Reads, tutoring Middle School aged children in all areas at after school setting and helping K-4 grade elementary students who had difficulty learning to read. I also worked as a Summer Counselor at a facility for court adjudicated youth and assisted them in the areas of anger management, life skills, drug and alcohol dependency, and gangs. I taught Civics I, Civics II, and Global Studies II at a poor, rural school district in South Carolina. Finally, this year I was a Substitute Teacher in suburban Pittsburgh school districts, teaching all subjects once again.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is very simple. Everyone knows exactly what is expected of them and what the consequences are if they do not live up to the expectations. I use a wide array of strategies, assessments and tools to excite the students and expose them to many different techniques and experiences. The atmosphere I establish is loose, engaging, and fun.
