Experience Summary
I am a highly motivated individual with a heart and love for teaching others. During high school, I took advanced placement courses in English and Calculus and through these courses I was exposed to a large variety of concepts at varying challenge levels. In AP Calculus, I was able to utilize the foundations of mathematics as well as numerous other concepts. In AP English, I learned everything from classic literature and poems to advanced grammar and writing skills. At the University of Central Florida, I continued to excel in my courses and pursued a major in the legal field when I realized my dreams of going to law school. Through my legal education at Gonzaga Law School, I learned significant skills in proper grammar and writing as a result of the numerous legal research and written legal briefs required of law students and three years of required legal research and writing courses. Most recently I have volunteered on a part-time basis tutoring to local elementary and middle-school children, which I have enjoyed immensely!
Teaching Style
I have had the experience of being taught by wonderful, kind, caring, and patient teachers. I have also experienced the teachers who are harsh, impatient, and ridiculing. Through these experiences, I realized that I learned much more through the teachers who were patient and caring. The teacher makes all the difference. Teachers are extremely important in molding and shaping the learning lives of their students. I strive to make learning fun and exciting, because a child/student who is having fun will want to learn more and not just the bare minimum to get by. These skills will last a lifetime. I know that each child/student learns differently, therefore, in my approach to teaching, I try to discern their learning style and best suit my teaching to fit that style. Children/students need exposure to a wide variety of concepts and in a wide variety of mediums. I am committed to providing that to my students and ensuring they have a solid foundation to reach their goals.
