Experience Summary
I knew from a young age I wanted to be an educator, and I have taken every opportunity to help students. In high school, I volunteered in 8th grade and 1st grade classrooms. I also taught religious education for 3 years. Throughout my college years, I worked in a variety of classrooms. I spent a majority of my practicum hours working in a 5th grade Language Arts classroom, and I am currently employed as a 7th grade Language Arts teacher. My endorsement in Language arts leaves me highly qualified to serve students in writing language and reading skills.
Teaching Style
With my experience in many classrooms, I am a firm believer that all children can learn. However, each child has different needs, and they will learn in different ways. As a teacher, I try to provide instruction in a variety of ways to accommodate to a variety of learners. Many struggling students will succeed if material is taught in a different form. Hands-on and discovery learning are both excellent ways of adapting for students. I believe the best way to teach a child is to get to know them and their interests, and provide instruction in a way that fits their needs.
