Experience Summary
The number of years teaching and tutoring is a fuzzy area. I am a graduate student and I have been a teaching assistant for about 2 years, which consists of instructing laboratory, discussion hours and office hours. I have a BA in chemistry, which is certified by the American Chemical Society, so my study of chemistry covered all the major fields, including the laboratory, so I know applications of most of the theories that are taught. I have been a TA for both General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry.
Teaching Style
The best word to describe my teaching is flexible. Students learn concepts in different ways. When each quarter begins and I hold my first discussion, I always start off saying that this time is the student's time. If my teaching style does not work with everyone let me know. If they want more example problems than lecture, I tell them to tell me to change it up. Also, if there is a hard concept to understand I try to explain it in multiple ways that get the same point across, in case someone does not understand it in one way, but may in another.
