Experience Summary
I have been tutoring since my sophomore year at the University of Puget Sound. I tutor mathematics exclusively because it's my area of expertise as well as what I'm passionate about. My first tutoring jobs were referred to me by professors, where I privately tutored secondary school students in-home. During my junior and senior years I worked for the University as a peer tutor, tutoring lower division students in calculus and statistics. Currently I am tutoring privately again since quiting a 3-year career in the actuarial field to take classes part-time.
Teaching Style
My goals is to get the student up to speed so they can succeed on their own. In mathematics, problems can be solved several different ways, so I adapt the method I teach to what is most natural to the student. I believe everyone has mathematical ability, but not everyone approaches problems the same way. If the student has problems in school, it's not because they're incapable. A little personal attention can help them reach their potential.
