Experience Summary
I have volunteered as a tutor since I was in high school, 15 years ago. I have tutored in America, France, and West Africa. I have worked as an English and French teacher in West Africa, Mexico, Japan, France and China. I am currently a doctoral student in my first year at Saybrook Graduate School and Research Center. I have done extensive reading, writing, and research throughout my career. In addition to professional experience, I believe I have the necessary discipline and demeanor in order to be an effective tutor.
Teaching Style
In brief, my style could be described as "student-centered". When teaching language in particular, the most important thing is for the students to be able to use the skills they learn effectively, and to appreciate the subject's relevance to their lives. I try to convey the applicability of whatever I am teaching; of course this changes on based on the individual student's needs, goals, and learning style. I would say I try to teach in a way that is flexible, adaptable, spontaneous but structured, and most of all, enjoyable!!
