Experience Summary
In 2005, I closed down a foster care agency that I had owned and directed for over ten years. I took a trip around the world with my family, and returned to Boulder intent on doing work that I am passionate about. With a Bachelors and a Masters in English, I have been tutoring and teaching off and on for quite a few years, and along with reading, it is what I like doing most. I have also taught and tutored Hebrew. My reading, writing, and pedagogical skills are very strong, and I am also adept at helping students master organizational skills.
Teaching Style
I love working one on one with students, from elementary school to college level. It is such an extraordinary feeling to pass on a love of reading and writing to a child, or to watch an older student recognize that they can master a subject and succeed. I strongly believe in cross-disciplinary education, wherein students can apply what they've learned in one subject to another. I believe in fostering creativity and individuality as well as proper grammatical construction. After working for many years with children from underprivileged backgrounds, the merits of bibliotherapy became exceedingly apparent, and more than anything, I hope that my tutoring enables others to love reading and writing.
