Experience Summary
Have been teaching and tutoring all my life! I have been told by many people that this is a natural talent I possess. I am somewhat of a generalist in the sciences and keep pretty much up to date in the field. I feel that my training in Psychology is an added skill set that can be useful as a tutor. I have friends in the field who tell me I would be successful in the field, and most important (to me), I would bring passion, a depth of understanding, and [hopefully] joy to myself and the "tutee"!
Teaching Style
I am, by nature, an "explainer" who can easily put himself in the shoes of the student. With patience, and a knack for common communication, I have been able to cogently and clearly, I feel, get across abstruse and complex concepts, issues and ideas to those patient enough to follow the process. I have been an active member of my local chapter of Cafe Scientifique (Pittsburgh), and this has allowed me, over several years, to communicate with the local scientific community on a wide variety of topics. I feel that I am one of their lead expositors of Scientific topics, and this skill is a natural path towards tutoring.
