Experience Summary
Upon graduating with a BA in International Affairs and Spanish in the Spring of 2003, I traveled to India to work in an orphanage and school for orphaned and underpriviledged children. For six months, I taught a wide range of subjects, including Reading, Writing, History, Social Sciences and Math in a small classroom setting (10-30 students). Last summer, I traveled to Guatemala and Mexico to work in an orphanage for abused children, to where I also returned for the past Christmas break. In the orphanage, I tutored children on a one-to-one basis in Math, English, and Reading. I also worked at an after-school program during the Fall semester of 2005, where I offered homework help to Third grade students.
Teaching Style
I truly enjoy teaching and working with children in all capacities. I believe that I am best when teaching on a one-to-one basis. I consider myself to be a very patient person and have been told that I am a natural-born teacher. I believe that any child can achieve his or her educational goals through repetition and creative approaches to teaching traditional material.
