Experience Summary
I have taught college level general and organic chemistry at New York University, University of California at Los Angeles, University of California at Santa Cruz, and at Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona. I have tutored high school and college level chemistry (introductory, AP, IB, general, organic) for the last eight years in Palm Beach County. I have tutored high school and college level math: algebra I/II; geometry; and precalculus for the last eight years in Palm Beach County. I have tutored high school and college students in standard test prep (ACT, SAT, PSAT, DAT, MCAT) for the last eight years in Palm Beach County.
Teaching Style
I lecture and provide homework assistance where needed. I provide strategies and practice for standardized tests when desired. I like working with students who want to learn, which is more important than attempting to get a good grade. Learning is forever; grades have a shelf-life of two years at most.
All students can learn; too many are not interested in learning. It doesn't matter whether one likes the class or the teacher; learning the material presented is the student's job. That job, just like the jobs their parents hold, requires them to be committed to doing their best.
If a student lacks that commitment, no tutor can help. If a student wants to learn, I will bend over backwards to pave the way.
