Experience Summary
I recently graduated from University of Nevada, Reno summa cum laude. I was also my high school valedictorian. I have always excelled in school because I love learning and have great organization and study skills.
Almost all of my work experience has been with students— from working as a preschool teacher to volunteering to tutor elementary school students at the Boys and Girls Club to advising high school students in the Upward Bound program to tutoring college students in the University Writing Center.
Teaching Style
I have a friendly, encouraging approach with my students; I like them to feel comfortable working with me, but I also let them know that I have high expectations and that our tutoring sessions are not social time. My goal is to get students to understand the material and feel comfortable discussing and applying it, so my tutoring sessions are often very conversational. I provide a lot of feedback and will have students practice difficult concepts multiple times before moving on because I believe that practice is a key component to learning. I like to get to know my students and pinpoint their academic strengths and weaknesses so that together we can build on those things.
