Experience Summary
I have worked for Norfolk City Public Schools and Virginia Beach City Public Schools as a substitute teacher for approximately six years. During that period I performed a multitude of jobs including long term substitute positions, teaching high school physics, and performed tasks far beyond the parameters of substitute job specifications. This current school year I was requested by the school improvement specialist, to work as the primary SOL tutor for Earth Science. I also worked for many years in the AVID program as a site tutor aiding in introducing new tutors to the procedures and techniques that would make them most productive as a tutor, while integrating the AVID program to the site.
Teaching Style
My teaching style consists of incorporating all learning styles of most people in order to achieve the highest level of comprehension in course subjects. I believe that most students gain the best understanding when they are required to use their auditory skills, while visualizing the information, and writing the information for the practice of kinesthetic learning. It is imperative that the learning environment is entertaining yet informative so that the students view the learning process as fun. Any additional learning techniques or styles may be applied to accommodate all children in need.
