Experience Summary
I recently graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. While earning my degree, I took multiple physics, chemistry, biology, and genetics courses, and this allowed me to gain a high level of knowledge in the sciences. In addition, I minored in Art History and Business Administration. My Art History courses and English courses helped me gain good writing skills. I also wrote many laboratory reports and research papers during my time at UF. From 2008-2009, I volunteered my time to tutor elementary and middle school kids at the Oasis Love Ministries Church in Gainesville for 2 hours every week. I would help kids with their homework during the 2 hours.
Teaching Style
I adapt my teaching style to the student I am tutoring. Usually I like to show a student the correct method of solving a problem, and then I like to have the student do the task on their own. After they do a few problems on their own, I like to check their work and help them with any errors. Most importantly, I like to listen to their questions and make sure that I am being clear with my explanations. I feel that all students can perform at a high level, but they must be confident in their abilities. My goal is to instill them with confidence so that they can solve problems on their own in school.
