Experience Summary
My time as an undergraduate at Duke University sharpened my intellect to an incredible degree. At Duke, I obtained a BA in Public Policy, a minor in Economics and graduated Magna Cum Laude. The rigorous academic environment at Duke taught me vital study skills while pushing me to improve my writing abilities and problem solving skills. I was further fortunate enough at Duke to have the opportunity to serve as a Teaching Assistant for both an undergraduate and graduate level course in policy analysis. The course was writing intensive, giving me experience in editing others work.
Teaching Style
I believe one of the most vital components of teaching revolves around guiding the child to find a sense of accomplishment in their work. Learning can often be difficult and frustrating but even the smallest sense that they are getting it, picking up something really helps an individual find the motivation to stay focused and work hard. I find patience and encouragement are also very important. Everyone learns at their own pace and learns best through different mechanisms.
