Experience Summary
My teaching experience includes over 20 years of teaching children with special needs. In addition I have taught grades K-6 students in the regular classroom. I have also have experience teaching middle school math/science and writing.I am a certified Wilson Reading teacher; a specialized reading system for students with reading difficulties. I was a reading researcher for Florida State University. Presently I am a tutor for the Literacy Council of Manatee County, working with adults.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is one of patience. I use a 'multi-sensory' approach; focusing on how the student learns. Some students learn from listening, seeing or looking; and others by touching objects. I like to use a variety of materials, books, videos, computers, dvds; puzzles, games; anything that will create that 'aha' learning moment. I like to create a positive learning environment; one that will allow the student to discover and grow.
