Experience Summary
As an graduate of Illinois, I was very much driven to achieve a high level of excellence in education. I have earned these degrees, which has enabled me to gain an understanding of my own children as well as other children I serve. Although I am a Language Arts and History major, I am fluent in French and am learning Spanish. I have a natural gift for languages and numbers and wish to pursue putting these abilities to practice.
I have learned extensive Mathematical skills due to tutoring in afterschool programs, working closely with the Math Investigations resource books and the North Carolina Standard Course of study. During the last 8 months I have tutored children in math through geometry, algebra I and basic computation.
Teaching Style
I love working with all children. I believe all children have the capability to learn math and put it to use in everyday life, but in a variety of methods and understandings. I like the elementary range of math because I can use all the math knowledge I have acquired through my own education. I am available to help each child find academic success no matter what exceptions they bring to the table. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery and in a constructivist approach to learning. I do know that appropriate surroundings and learning experiences can help all children meet their potential.
My job is to enhance learning beyond the classroom, yet take the classroom teachers skills and expand on them to benefit your child.
