Experience Summary
As a recent graduate of Florida Gulf Coast University with a B.S. in Biology, I plan on using the degree in order to pursue a higher education but also to teach. I not only graduated with a 4.0 GPA but I also held multiple leadership positions such as VP of the Golden Key Honour Society, a mentorship role for Sigma Lambda Beta Fraternity, received scholastic awards, and was granted the opportunity to work as a TA for classes such as Bio I, Vertebrate Form and Function, and Evolutionary Bio. This experience not only gave me a better understanding of the material but also provided the opportunity to help other students become more successful. Through that experience I learned and truly understand that teaching is about mutual empowerment.
Teaching Style
My main goal in teaching is not to have the student simply memorize the necessary content in order to achieve an A in the course but it is rather to impart the student with an understanding of the underlying concepts so that they may build upon this knowledge. Understanding the coursework will allow the student to excel in other synthetic classes and enable them to manipulate, construct, and critically think regarding the subject. I have taught many students ranging from freshman to seniors at the college level and can be dynamic enough to cater to each of their learning styles whether they learn pictorially, verbally, with power point etc.
