Experience Summary
My experience at Brigham Young University instilled in me a desire to pursue lifelong learning and to assist others in their own quest for knowledge. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in English Education and took advanced courses in Math and Spanish (I taught English in El Salvador). During my time at BYU, I fine-tuned my writing skills and also helped other students do the same, especially as I worked as an editor of a university journal. I have had the chance to present scholarly papers at professional conferences.
I have taught ACT preparation classes relating to all areas of the test (math, science, English, and reading comprehension). I have also been a private English, history, and science tutor.
Teaching Style
I strive to help your child achieve academic and personal success.
In my student teaching, I saw first-hand the need for students and teachers to have a relationship where fairness and mutual respect are top priorities. I also witnessed how students can feel the intention of their teachers: when teachers truly desire for their students to succeed, the students can sense this. I am committed to creating a positive relationship with your child and to let him/her know that his/her success is my main goal.
When teachers have high expectations, their students consistently rise to meet them. I will set my expectations high for your child, as I believe he/she can and will meet them with the proper support and encouragement.
