Experience Summary
I have earned a BS degree in Accounting from Penn State University and a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from Virginia Tech, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of business management, business law, finance and accounting. While attending Virginia Tech, I taught an undergraduate Accounting/MIS course as an assistant to Dr. Sam Hicks, Associate Professor of Accounting and MIS. In addition, I have conducted numerous one-on-one financial training classes for company employees in basic and intermediate accounting concepts, basic financial concepts, how to read and understand financial statements, as well as Excel and general computing skills.
Teaching Style
I enjoy watching the “light bulb” turn on when a student or employee grasps a certain concept I’ve taught them. I have witnessed this rewarding experience many times throughout my career. I am patient, easy going, and considerate. My approach is to use real world examples or familiar analogies to help the student better understand a problem or concept. I have found this approach to be helpful while assisting my own daughter with her school work over the years. My goal is to help your child find academic success too.
