Experience Summary
I am a 2010 graduate of the Teacher Immersion Program (TIP) from Florida Gulf Coast University. I have my Florida Teaching Certificate and am Florida certified in Math (Middle Grades 5-9) and Elementary Ed. K-6. I have experience volunteering in intensive/ESE math classes (grades 6-10) and a 9th grade Algebra I class. I have always been good at math. I took Trigonometry, Statistics, and Calculus I & II in college and achieved B's or better in each of them. Currently, I am proficient in Algebra, Geometry (middle grades), Probability, and of course basic math skills. In addition to math, I can also teach Language Arts (reading and writing).
Teaching Style
I chose the teaching profession because I wanted to be a positive adult male role model for students. I believe all kids can learn and can achieve academic success with a teacher who is patient and supportive to their needs. I have a systematic approach to teaching; I have found that when ideas and concepts are "broken down" and explained step by step, students have an easier time understanding and grasping those ideas. I also believe that the key to academic success lies in developing essential skills; such as, note taking skills, organization skills, and test preparation skills.
