Experience Summary
I am a recent graduate of The Ohio State University, where I earned my BS in Microbiology. My strong background in science and mathematics allowed me to tutor students in both chemistry and microbiology during my time as an undergraduate. Being the daughter of an English teacher, my writing skills were further polished by time spent in college English classes and writing countless lab reports in microbiology, chemistry, and biochemistry.
Teaching Style
I've worked with both high school and college students, both gifted and disadvantaged students, and I believe that the key to being a successful tutor is understanding your student and how he/she learns. Through my experiences, I've learned how to explain subject matter in a way that enables students to repeat back to me in their own words what I just explained. This is critical. I believe students learn best by understanding first, and memorizing when applicable. I'm able to gauge where my students are in their education and get them where they need to be.
