Experience Summary
As a lifelong learner I understand the importance of an effective teacher. I have been teaching and assisting college level classes for 2 years as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. During this time I have taught 6 classes consisting of introductory microbiology, microbial genetics and general biology. This experience has allowed me to develop my own teaching style and led to a greater understanding of both sides of the teacher-student dynamic.
Teaching Style
I believe the best way to learn is to ask questions. The best thought process begins with asking the right questions. As a student, I find that knowing the right question was often as important as right answer. Taking this lesson into teaching, I find that getting the student to ask the right question makes all the difference in their understanding. My perspective of teaching is to help the student to find and better understand their own question and which leads the correct answers.
