Experience Summary
Being as a teaching assistant, lab instructor is an important training in my graduate study until I obtained PhD of Chemistry. After graduation, I tutored undergraduate students for their chemistry classes. Tutoring is an efficient way to improve students' understanding and mastering chemistry knowledge. Tutoring is not just a repeat what have been taught in lecture, it is to improve capability of solving problems. Solving one problem would result in knowing how to solve all similar problems. This is the purpose of my tutoring wants to realize and this is the key factor that makes students success in their future academic careers.
Teaching Style
My philosophy of tutoring is (1) Tutoring with a method of enlightenment: a chemistry textbook is full of symbols, equations, concepts etc. (2) Open two-way communication: this is based on a mutual understanding and respect for all students irrespective of their grades. Teaching and learning is a dual direction process. I always create a climate during tutoring to translate my teaching enthusiasm into students’ enthusiasm to learn. All these contribute to a successful tutoring.
