Experience Summary
I am uniquely qualified for this position. I possess an M.A. in TESOL and have worked for years in various capacities, including at the community college level and voluntarily, with English language learners (ELLs)and English native speakers. I enjoy teaching and tutoring ELLs, which is why I take every opportunity to work with students both formally and informally. I am also keenly aware of what it is like to learn a new language as an adult learner. I am proficient in both Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, and I am currently learning Arabic.
Teaching Style
I firmly believe in catering my style to my particular student(s). However, I believe in involving my students in my lessons because I believe that this is the best way to both engage a student in his own education and provide him with a sense of ownership of his education. I am patient and believe that everything comes at its own pace, so I never force my students to move faster than they are comfortable with. I believe that comfort and confidence provide the best environment for learning; therefore, I strive to provide a comfortable environment and encourage students in order to maximize the potential that exists in them all.
