Experience Summary
I am a Masters graduate with several years of direct teaching experience in biology at the university level. My teaching experiences have been incredibly rewarding and I enjoy facilitating the learning process in students. I have experience in a variety of courses including, lecturing General Biology. I have 2 years experience in Human Anatomy and Physiology instruction at the university level. This past year I have also begun dental school, have a 4.0 and have taken gross anatomy, human physiology, neuroscience, and many other medically focused sciences. I have found that my own experiences with the medical profession allow me to relate to a large fraction of students who are also pursuing careers in medicine through a degree in biology.
Teaching Style
I’ve had the opportunity to teach a diverse student group and know that learning styles vary with each student and instruction should be tailored to these individual needs. I also believe the complex detail and large amounts of memorization in biology should be approached by mastering larger concepts and developing a framework that details can then be fit into. In my experience the more students relate concepts to one another the more they retain and understand them. I am a patient and teach at the student's pace kind of tutor. Some concepts may come easy, some a little less and my time will reflect these needs. I really enjoy teaching and find it very rewarding when a student grasps aspects of the curriculum with which they had difficulty.
