Experience Summary
During my two years of tutoring, I've helped two students to drastically improve their grades after they fell to below 2.0 GPA.
My first year of experience came in 2004 when a friend of me offered tutoring a high school student in English. During 2004-2005 I've revised his grammar and added to his vocabulary by giving him bunches of reading paragraphs which we went through the grammar points and vocabularies used.
The second year of experience was in 2007-2008 during my first year at Cal Poly Pomona with a student who wanted to gain better understanding, grade and accuracy doing Math and Chemistry problems. Her problem was leaning too much on applying 'plug and chuck' equations without a clear understanding of the fundamental.
Teaching Style
I'm interested in reviving students who don't know where to start when they feel being lost and fall behind. My style is first to prepare a diagnostic test to examine the learners'
weaknesses. The next steps are preparing notes and finding examples to provide a clear and firm understanding of the subjects' fundamentals. Hard work is the most important: doing ample exercises to solidify knowledge and increase the ability to apply them in solving problems.
