Experience Summary
As a professional writing graduate I have been trained in everything form writing poetry to abstract writing by the late Dr. Shirley Thomas (NASA) and the late Thomas Thompson (Doubleday). I am two generations removed from Anais Nin as an autbiographical writer and have served as a writing tutor since my junior year in college.I have taught writing for the past 28 years and have command of the King's English, for which neither my fomremerly homeschooled children nor I make apology. I have been invited for the third consecutive year to read College AP English Composition exams by the Educational Testing Service College Board (Princeton, NJ).
Teaching Style
“Read. Think. Write. Publish.” That is my classroom directive to my English composition students in whom I take pride in teaching, training, and developing as writers. As the legacy of a man who was likened to Paul Robeson, the first African-American to become president of any college or university in New Jersey, and of a dedicated mother who taught me the importance of good penmanship, I understand the essence of critical thinking and how that shapes a writer to the purpose for writing.
