Experience Summary
I spent most of my undergraduate degree focused on learning advanced mathematics. While it was extremely challenging, I enjoyed it more than any other education experience. My love of math was echoed in my love for literature and writing. Although English was less challenging for me, the creative freedom made it worthwhile. All through college, I tutored math an English. After college, I pursued a career in branch banking, and worked my way to branch manager of a Seattle based bank. My love for teaching got the best of me, though, and I returned to graduate school for my teaching certification. I have taught in inner city schools for the last two years, and I haven't looked back since.
Teaching Style
I consider myself an engaging and fun teacher, while at the same time a driven motivator. Because of my unusual degree in pure math, my knowledge of the content area and various solution strategies is unparalleled. With my interest in English, I feel that it helps me to relate better to all students. Because of my positive attitude and caring disposition, students feel comfortable coming to me with questions and are willing to work their hardest. I have high expectations of my students, and, likewise, I have high expectations for myself.
