Experience Summary
Most of my adult life has been spent in the arena of teaching and mentoring. My undergraduate degree, a B.S. in Biology, was largely a platform for the many other courses taken in order to teach mathematics and sciences more effectively. Even after I had moved professionally from teaching to military chaplaincy, much of my focus has been on mentoring others. My range of personal experience is wide, having taught or tutored the range from basic mathematics to differential equations, earth science to physics, with Latin and Greek tossed in for good measure.
Teaching Style
I have a teaching style which refer to as "narrative." All memorable education takes place in the context of its history and personal usefulness. Therefore, I show the student how a topic has affected people in the past and pull it into personal relevance. Discussion is crucial, not only for allowing the student to ask questions, but for me, the teacher to discover the personal learning style of the student.
