Experience Summary
I am a highly qualified mathematics teacher in Northern Arizona with seven years of varied experience. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education Mathematics at the State University of New York at Oswego and became a high school mathematics teacher in New York for two years. I decided to pursue a Master’s Degree at Northern Arizona University in Mathematics Education and was assigned a Graduate Teaching Assistantship, in which I taught university level mathematics classes for three years. I have also provided professional development in mathematics to in-service teachers and have enjoyed tutoring my students in mathematics throughout my teaching career.
Teaching Style
My objective as a teacher is to motivate my students toward a level of independence where they develop a desire to learn and think for themselves. I strive to help my students understand the meaning behind the mathematics and since the classroom is filled with students who learn in different ways, using a variety of different instructional strategies in the classroom is essential. I enjoy working with my students in group settings, but working one-on-one is especially beneficial. I enjoy tutoring on my lunch break and after school and I have been an AIMS (Arizona’s Instrument to Measure Standards) mathematics tutor for two years now. I am a patient, supportive, and passionate teacher who always wants the best for my students.
