Experience Summary
I have three years teaching experience, mainly with disadvantaged populations, and five years tutoring experience. My rigorous teaching experience gives me the advantage of being able to work with any type of student with patience and courtesy. I coached volleyball at the Junior Olympic level for five years, working with girls from 12-18. When they had trouble in school, I tutored them before practice in a wide variety of subjects. The students told me they were appreciative of my ability to explain concepts and my unwavering dedication to achieving the goals set out for us.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is one of patience and encouragement. Not every student learns at the same pace. It is important to me to analyze the student's style of learning and try to comprehend where they might be having trouble understanding the concept or problem. For example, if the student has trouble with spelling, it might make sentence comprehension difficult. It is important to me never to berate a student or lose patience with them. I do not believe students can learn well under stress.
