Experience Summary
I have been in college for 3 years now and have a GPA of 3.90. My major is in Biology with a minor in Psychology. I have been accepted for the Honors Research Program at my university. I was selected to receive an academic scholarship from the state of Ohio. I have worked as a Lab Assistant for a statistics course and as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for a Cell Biology and Genetics class. I have tutored approximately 30 students for about a year and a half. I tutor in Biology, Psychology, Mathematics and Statistics. I also help students to prepare for tests such as SAT, ACT, ASVAB and college entry-level mathematics placement tests. I have helped about 7 students with a 100% success rate for various test preparations.
Teaching Style
I am a big believer in real life examples and visual cues. I write every little detail so that one can always look back to their notes and have no problem revising. Courses such as biology and psychology are comprised of a ton of theory, therefore diagrams, frequent quizzes and examples play an integral part to learning. I describe the lengthy terms and processes by breaking them down, drawing and explaining the origin of the words. On the other hand, mathematics and statistics require consistent practice. I solve the tougher questions and show the correct way to display one's work. Speaking from experience, most students make mistakes because they do not write the solution correctly. Hence I put a lot of emphasis on the writing part.
