Experience Summary
In addition to my professional background, I have roughly a decade worth of experience as a volunteer (and professional) reading tutor and teacher. I worked with grade schools at Hancock and Horace Mann Elementary Schools as a volunteer tutor. I taught after-school classes at Battle Creek and Highland Park Junior High.
Teaching Style
I am flexible and patient. I understand that reading and writing doesn't come easily to a lot of students. It is, in its own way, a skill not unlike hitting a golf ball or being a really good cook. I work with the student to find what clicks for them and then go from there. I was fortunate to have patient teachers who got the best out of me. I wish to do the same with students.
