Experience Summary
A graduate of Berklee College of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production, I used my AP-level English background to tutor international students at the college in English reading, writing, and speaking. Throughout my education, I have continually excelled in my English courses, studying everything from the classics to modern styles.
My experience working at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in Public Relations strengthened my writing skills as I contributed articles and artist biographies to the Orchestra's 'Performance' magazine and e-newsletter. Currently, I am writing a book proposal for a client in the biography/memoir genre.
Teaching Style
Something I have always enjoyed while tutoring is the moment that the student 'gets it'. In order to properly prepare the student for their future education, you must show them the importance of the process of learning. The idea of the process builds the student's ability to work independently, thus giving them a valuable life lesson. I believe every student is special and learns in different ways, and I try to adapt quickly to their learning style. I also incorporate a wide variety of methods to keep the student's interest and excitement in the subject. If the student can see how the subjects can relate to their future and everyday life, it will increase their desire to learn.
