Experience Summary
After receiving my bachelor's degree in Psychology, I started teaching special education while pursuing my Master's degree. I completed my Master's program in 2005 and received my certification in special education in the state of Tennessee. In 2009, I also received my certification in the state of Georgia. I have a variety of experience teaching different subject areas to students with special needs in grade levels ranging from k-12. I also taught a special education class to undergrad students at Covenant College for two years. I am currently a stay at home mom of two wonderful toddlers looking for an opportunity to tutor students who may need a little extra help and encouragement.
Teaching Style
As a special education teacher, I believe learning should be fun and exciting. I teach students based upon their individual needs and learning styles. I love learning and I try my best to pass that love of learning to my children and my students. Using centers in the class room, is a great way to make learning fun. Centers allow students to be actively engaged by presenting the subject material using a hands-on approach while allowing them to move about the room. Giving praise and encouragement to students is also very important in the learning process. Everyone works better when they are encouraged and loved.
