Experience Summary
During the last seven years, I have taught and tutored students in the subjects of life science, general science, physical science, chemistry, intro physics and mathematics. My background includes: a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry with an emphasis in biochemistry and mathematics and service in the United States Navy as Computer Programmer during the Gulf War conflict. Both have given me a unique insight on math and science as they are applied in the real world. In addition, over 4 years experience teaching science to high school and middle school. In addition, I volunteered my time as a science teacher to private schools servicing grades pre-K thru 8.
Teaching Style
My philosophy focuses on the development across five dimensions of learning: confidence and independence, knowledge and understanding, skills and strategies, the ability to use prior and emerging experience in new situations, and reflectiveness - the ability to think deeply and critically. I provide students with more experiences to working independently and interactively. It is essential to coordinate the students' inherent drive for self-determination, academic goals, and engaging activities that represents student achievement and performance. My practice is to create an environment that is highly collaborative, project-based, resource-rich, challenging, and equitable.
