Experience Summary
I am passionate about teaching and as a recent retiree, I miss the opportunity to work with students. I have taught AP language arts, standard English to all levels of high school, drama, speech, adult ed (FCCJ), and dual enrollment English Compostion, and Introduction to Literature.
I am distressed at the lack of student expertise in composition and I believe in a firm foundation of basic grammar. I know how important college essays are and I have taught test prep skills to students.
I have thirty-one years working with young adults from all levels and from all aptitudes. I have also worked with inclusion students and understand the dictates of IEP compliance.
Teaching Style
I am creative, witty, and have a great rapport with students.
I understand the nuances of various learning styles and my first priority is to discover the style my learner is. I administer diagnostic skills which I use to help with reading and writing comprehension.
I have taught FCAT skills as well as college prep. I believe in hard work, practice, and rewards. Having a background in minority education from UNF and ESOL certification has helped me understand how best to help students from different cultures and countries.
