Experience Summary
I have a BA in Geology in which I focused on Earth Science, took at least 1 year of Calculus, Physics and Chemistry. I have been taking graduate classes in Biology and Microbiology. In my academic career I have prepared lectures and seminars for students on scientific topics and have recently begun teaching at Erie Community College in their Biomanufacturing department being responsible for teaching basic lab skills, aseptic technique and lab safety. I have personal and job experience in labs. I've worked in a quality control lab for the last 4 years and have done research in academic labs. I am also fond of reading and writing, as they are some of my hobbies. I really love science and teaching people science. I've taught basic algebra, dilutions, proportions, scientific notation, metric system, converting between units. I've also taught basic and analytical chemistry. I've found through my experience that a lot of people struggle with math - I would like to show them that math can be doable.
Teaching Style
My teaching style includes some lecture, covering basics like definitions, concepts and explaining how things work. I also like to do hands on activities so students can really incorporate the concepts from the lecture. I also have assigned papers, class presentations, class discussions and team projects. I try to do a little bit of everything because people learn in different ways.
