Experience Summary
I was barely 17 when I founded a one room school in the remote mountains of Hainan Island where I taught all subjects and all grades. Thus began my love of teaching. As the Cultural Revolution waned, I returned to the mainland and continued teaching while I finished high school on my own and earned a BS in teaching Chemistry. My career progressed through high school, community college until retirement teaching Organic Chemistry at the University of Guangzhou.
In America I teach Mandarin language and Chinese culture to students from primary grades to soldiers. I am currently enrolled in a MEd in Mandarin Instruction taught jointly by universities here and in China.
Teaching Style
I love all my students. I have a large library of teaching aids and knowledge of lots of ways to entice students to discover and delight in what they learn. I have the skill to be gentle while leading the student at a pace that accomplishes high achievement.
