Experience Summary
I have earned one bachelor degree with a major in history and a minor in computer applications. I have work experience as both a tutor and a teacher. I was a tutor in the America Reads program while I was a junior in college. I worked in the classroom and tutored children one-on-one on an as needed basis. During my senior year of college I worked for AmeriCorps Jumpstart, where I learned many different and better ways of interacting with children. I worked in the classroom as well as one on one with a student throughout the year. After college, I went to Korea to teach for a year. There I taught grades K-8 English.
Teaching Style
My teaching style as a tutor is to help them to fully understand the concepts that are presented to them. After helping them with a number of problems, they should be able to do the rest on their own. I hope that by slowly guiding them, asking pertinent questions, and offering encouragement that they will become more confident in what they are doing. I also like to impart new ways of how they can help themselves, tips and tricks on how to learn new things.
