Experience Summary
I am a current high school teacher who loves her job! I earned my Bachelor's Degree at Iowa State University in Secondary English Education, and then a School Counseling Master's Degree at UNLV. I have a strong passion for learning and love to share that passion with kids. My strengths in education are grammar, spelling, literature, and reading strategies. Also, due to my counseling background, I'm a great listener and like for kids to feel like I'm someone they can rely on and trust.
Teaching Style
I love working with kids and watching them learn and grow. It amazes me every year to see students who don't believe in themselves grow into kids who see their full potential. The light in their eyes is priceless. My approach to teaching is along the lines of the "Love and Logic" program. I believe that when children are offered choices, they feel more empowered to make decisions that are best for their futures and who they want to become. I also believe that modeling what I expect is the best way to achieve positive results in student behavior and work ethic. Students will always see me working hard!
