Experience Summary
As a graduate of Whittier College, I have received an education unlike many. Through the 4-year liberal arts program at Whittier, I studied a vast array of subjects ranging from Math and Spanish to Business and Chemistry. Through this program, I have grasped extensive knowledge not only in these subjects, but how they can be applied to one another in real life situations. Throughout my time at Whittier College, I also took a multitude of “writing intensive” courses, geared towards the advancement of each individual’s writing and grammar skills in a variety of subjects. I have previously tutored students ages 4-16 in science (ecology, biology, physics, chemistry), math and English.
Teaching Style
Throughout the last 7 years, I have instructed children and teens in a variety of subjects. As a junior lifeguard instructor, I taught important skills such as first aid and CPR; it was here that I first began understanding how to teach children. Upon switching jobs and beginning to teach at an outdoor summer science camp, I expanded my horizons into the academic realm, not just the first aid and lifeguard realm. It was at Sarah’s Science Summer Camp that I truly began to understand the different ways in which younger minds function. At Sarah’s Science, I learned how to effectively work with each individual while continuously showing support for a group as a whole.
