Experience Summary
As a graduating senior in Microbiology My comprehensive coursework in the hard sciences, including Biology and Chemistry, provides me with substantial knowledge in several domains. I began my work as a college tutor in 2007 and immediately found fulfillment in helping students to meet their academic goals. By the end of my time with the tutoring center, I was designated a CRLA Level 3 certified tutor. In addition to my tutoring experience, I also worked as a student teacher, teaching math to two classes of seventh graders. I learned necessary skills in classroom management and how to create lessons that are flexible enough for students on different levels of knowledge and comprehension.
Teaching Style
I focus on showing students why a correct answer is correct and guide them with questions so that they can cultivate the correct answer on their own. I learned the importance of building rapport and tailoring my tutoring approach to match students’ learning styles. I am a patient, supportive tutor, and I make sure the student actually knows what is going on before moving on to a new problem or topic. I am easy going and I like to make the learning as interesting and fun as possible. I feel that all students are different and learn in different ways, so I tailor my questions and teaching style to make sure I communicate information as effectively as possible.
