Experience Summary
As a college and high school football coach, I learned first-hand how to motivate and teach people the correct techniques for playing and helped them prepare for games. I learned to formulate productive professional relationships that were the foundation for success for the players themselves. As a business management major, I honed my writing and presentation skills, as well as math skills in the preparation of financial data. Having coached football for 6 years, I developed crucial teaching skills and effective ways of connecting with students/players. I was also involved in tutoring as I coached. I have tutored history, English, math, SATs, and economics/personal finance.
Teaching Style
I am a firm believer in complete individualized, unique attention. It is critical to identify what motivates students and what techniques work best for them, and then work to enhance those skills and apply them to all subjects in order to be successful. By establishing the foundation for each students individual learning success, we can continue to build on those skills and progressively develop new skills and techniques to ensure that the student is confident in each subject he/she needs help with. It is my hope to not only strengthen the students in the subject I am assigned to tutor, but to establish skills that they can use beyond that one subject and into other subjects and in the classroom.
