Experience Summary
From a very early age, I have always wanted to teach. I love the way a student lights up when everything connects and they finally understand the topics. I earned my BA in Secondary English Education and my Student teaching semester was extremely rewarding. My cooperating teacher allowed me to teach half days in January and then full days starting in February. We were published in the local newspaper twice for our work in the classroom and I am the better for it. My students and I had a mutual respect and therefore test scores increased in those classes.
Teaching Style
I believe all children learn in different ways and it is our responsibility as teachers to accomodate to those different needs. If I am excited then the students will be excited. I have learned to consider myself as an educator and not simply a teacher. The term is broader and it allows my mind to grasp the importance of my career path that I have chosen. Every child deserves to learn. It doesn't matter how, but as long as they learn and are able to succeed in life, then I will consider my job successful as an educator.
