Experience Summary
After a childhood filled with the joys of reading I graduated from college with a BA in English. While I have continued to enjoy reading and writing, my interest turned to biology, specifically aquaculture where my area of expertise is shrimp breeding and farming. Through my work in shrimp culture I have traveled to Vietnam, Indonesia and India to teach shrimp and algae rearing to technicians in hatcheries.Now, while occasionally traveling as a consultant to shrimp hatcheries, I have returned to school to study substance abuse counseling. Currently I am doing an internship at a treatment center. I have very strong skills in reading and writing but also have hands-on experience in the field of biology.
Teaching Style
My experience of teaching is not in schools but I have trained many people in the art of rearing shrimp. I am very patient and encourage questions of any kind. I believe that a student needs to feel they can ask any question in order to fully understand. Any student can learn. There are many different personalities and many different ways of learning. When learning is a joy rather than a chore, a student has an even better chance to really understand the subject. My goal is to find the best method for teaching each individual student. Every student deserves an excellent education in order to prepare themselves for a fulfilling life.
