Experience Summary
As a graduate of the University of Oklahoma, I was highly trained to deal with concepts in mathematics at all levels up to senior level undergraduate coursework. I have earned a BS in mathematics, graduating with distinction. This has given me a deep understanding of the underlying concepts which I will need to demonstrate to other students. In addition to my own studies, I am an experienced mathematics tutor at the high school and collegiate levels. Since 2008, I have helped numerous students to overcome their difficulties and achieve the success that they needed to continue with their career path. My unique combination of individual knowledge of mathematics as well as experience teaching this to others makes me ideal.
Teaching Style
Teaching is a passion, or even a way of life for me. I believe that students learn mathematics by actively participating in problems. It does little when an instructor simply demonstrates how to work through a problem. What I find to be very effective is to follow the two step method: work a problem and then have the student work in the same way. I have used this method with each of my students, and it has proven to be highly effective. Essentially, mathematics is a process of building connections between multiple concepts. When these connections are put together, the solution flows rather naturally. It is my great enjoyment to help students make these connections.
