Experience Summary
I have a BS in Biological Sciences and an MS in Biology. I have also worked in the science research environment for many years, including providing input for protocol, published papers, etc. I have a high aptitude for editing, writing, and proofreading. My grammatical skills are excellent and enjoy sharing this gift with others as I assist them.
Teaching Style
I enjoy helping people to learn. Aside from knowledge base expertise, certain qualities exemplify a good tutor: patience and being a good listener. Understanding a student’s learning strategies is foundational and incorporates good listening qualities. A desirable outcome will then be more achievable for the student. I try to let my student, regardless of age/grade, not feel intimidated or unintelligent regarding a certain subject or problem. This subsequently allows him or her to open up and feel comfortable as we work together to solve the problem. I encourage students to focus and have a positive attitude. Hopefully, developing good, solid study habits will result, not only while being tutored, but thereafter at home and school.
