Teaching Style
In my opinion good teaching results from years of trial and error and the willingness to learn about teaching from veteran colleagues and from one’s own successes and failures. Teaching is both a science and an art; it is a science in the preparation, pedagogy, methodologies, and assessments; it is an art in the myriad of dynamic interactions that take place in the classroom every day which are affected by the teacher’s actions, class size, student backgrounds, subject area, physical conditions, etc. As in art, part of the attraction to teaching is its inherent complexity that makes it difficult to decompose and describe explicitly, and similar to art - you know the quality when you see it.
