Experience Summary
My experience as a teacher began when I was in the U.S. Navy, I was an Financial and Department Training instructor. After retiring from the Navy I went to work in the school system as a security assistant. After one year I resigned and went to Norfolk State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a major concentration in Learning Disabled and a minor in Emotionally Disturbed. Ten years later I earned a Master's Degree in Education from Cambridge College. I have been a Special Education Teacher for the past 16 years teaching in the Virginia Beach City Schools. I have a Highly Qualified Certification in Middle school math and English. Currently I teach High School Life Skills Math and Algebra.
Teaching Style
I use a variety of teaching styles, i.e cooperative learning, learning centers, interactive learning, sight and tactile learning. The school system I am in emphasizes Differentiated Instruction. I believe I make a difference in student's lives both educationally and as a role model.
